Lisa Locascio is the Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing in English at Wesleyan University.

One time, she made me a woo woo with Blue Curacao at her dad’s basement bar in River Forest, IL and I puked up Ethiopian food all night.

She holds a BA from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, an MFA from New York University, and a PhD from the University of Southern California.

I read Stuart Dybek’s Pet Milk at her wedding and felt shy about the saying the sexy part at the end out loud in front of all those well-dressed people.

Lisa’s work appears in The Believer, Salon, n+1, Tin House Flash Fridays, Bookforum, Sou’wester, Santa Monica Review, American Short Fiction, Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Faultline, and many other journals.

We lived together in the East Village during undergrad where I would often find her in a mud mask and barely-fastened silk robe, demanding pizza, while we shrieked with intoxicant-fueled laughter.

She is editor of the anthology Golden State 2017: The Best Fiction and Nonfiction from California, which will be published by Outpost19 Books in 2017, co-publisher of Joyland,  and editor at the ekphrastic collaboration magazine 7×7.

Lisa invited me to her home in Los Angeles where she showed me her altar room, filled with crystals, talismans, and other objects that channel and magnify her formidable power.

Please enjoy SIDE D of my beloved friend Lisa’s cozy zone.
